Maintain Your Lane

Cobb County accident report stated that on April 11, 2019 Driver 1 advised that he was traveling SB on S. Cobb Drive near the E/W Connector in the number 2 straight lane.  He also stated that he saw Vehicle 2 approaching his vehicle in the number 1 straight lane.  Driver 1 said she and the other driver reached intersection together, both his vehicle and Vehicle 2.  But Driver 2 stated that she had pulled out of the Jr. Crickets parking lot and proceeded SB on S. Cobb Drive and that as she was passing Vehicle 1 she felt the bump and observed Vehicle 1 in her travel lane.  There was slight damage to Vehicle 1 and to Vehicle 2 as well.  This indicated that this vehicle could have been drifting to the left.  Driver 1 was cited for failure to maintain his lane.  Note:  Paying Attention Pays Off.

Extra Caution

SDeKalb County accident report stated that on April 4, 2019 Vehicle 2 was traveling NB in lane 1 on I-285 near Memorial Drive. Vehicle 1 was traveling directly behind Vehicle 2.  Driver 2 stated that the traffic was very heavy and as she was slowing down her vehicle was struck from behind by Vehicle 1. Driver 1 confirmed that she did hit Vehicle 2. No injuries were reported. Driver 1 was cited for Following Too Closely and was unable to move her vehicle. It was moved to the shoulder. Vehicle 2 was operable. Note: While driving in heavy, stop and go traffic, use extra caution!

Cobb County accident report stated that on April 3, 2019 Driver 1 advised that he was traveling SB on S. Focus Your Attention

PClayton county accident report stated that on April 1, 2019 Vehicle 2 was traveling North on Northeast Expressway in the far right lane. Vehicle 1 was stopped on Woodcock Blvd at the stop sign attempting to make a left on NE Expressway. Vehicle 1struck Vehicle 2 on the passenger far rear side. Driver 1 stated that Driver 2 had improperly backed into his vehicle. Driver 2 had complaints of neck and back pain but refused EMS service. Driver 1 was cited for Failure to Yield, and Vehicle 1 had to be towed. Note: Paying attention when attempting to make left turns will save your vehicle and your driver’s record!

Check Your Brakes

Clayton County accident report stated that on March 28, 2019 Driver 1 was traveling SB on Hwy 85 in the left turning lane to make a left onto Lamar Hutcheson Pkwy.  He stated that he was slowing down for the red light, but his brakes went out and he couldn’t stop. He rear-ended Vehicle 2. Driver 2 was in the turn lane on Hwy 85, stopped at the light when Vehicle 1 ran into the rear of her car. Driver 2 stated that she was experiencing back and neck pain, but refused medical attention. No other injuries were reported. Vehicle 2 had slight damage and the rear bumper was dislocated. Driver 1 was cited for following too closely. Note: It is your responsibility to keep your vehicle in good working order at all timesAnd when driving, keep your distance at least 1-1.5 car lengths behind the vehicle in front.

Yield to Oncoming Traffic

Clayton County accident report states that on March 27, 2019 an officer was dispatched to the intersection of SR 138 and Kendrick Rd. Driver 1 was driving West at the light at SR138 and Kendrick, waiting to turn left onto Kendrick RdShe started to turn left when she observed an oncoming vehicle turning right, and Driver 1 was hit on the driver’s side by Vehicle 2. Driver 1 stated that the traffic light was yellow while she was in the intersection.  Driver 2 stated that Vehicle 1 turned right in front of her.  Driver 2 could not stop fast enough to avoid the accident and hit Driver 1. Driver 2 was cited for broken turn signal  and for driving too fast for the conditions. Driver 1 was cited for failure to yield. Note: Yield to oncoming traffic, alway

Red Light Stop/ Green Light Go

Cobb County accident report stated that on March 25, 2019 Vehicle 1 was traveling WB on Concord Road at the intersection of Atlanta Road. Vehicle 2 was traveling on Atlanta Road turning left onto EB Atlanta Road.  Vehicle 1 ran the red light and struck Vehicle 2 on the front left bumper.  Driver 1 complained of head, neck and shoulder pain, and had a nose bleed and was transported to Wellstar for further treatment.  Driver 2 complained of head and neck pain also, but refused to be transported to the hospital.  Eyewitness 1, confirmed this.  Driver 1 was cited for failure to obey the authorized traffic control device.  Note:  Run a Light, Run risk of a ticket.

Following to Closely

Fulton County accident report stated that on March 23, 2019 Driver 1 was on Sherwood Rd waiting to turn right onto Piedmont Avenue.  He stated that he thought the vehicle in front of him had proceeded forward after yielding to the traffic when he looked left and began to move forward, but Vehicle 2 had not pulled forward and he struck Vehicle 2 in the rear.  Driver 2 confirmed that she was struck from the rear while yielding to the traffic.  Driver 2 complained of head and neck pain, but refused medical treatment. No other complaints.  Driver 1 was cited for following too closely.  Note: If you strike the rear, you are always too close and at fault. 

The Bus Obscured Her Vision

Fulton County accident report stated that on March 17, 2019 Driver 1 was traveling WB on Coronet Way and was stopped in traffic behind Vehicle 2. She stated that Vehicle 2 was stopped behind a bus and began to move forward when it suddenly stopped due to the red light, which the driver only saw once the bus had proceeded. She then was unable to avoid striking Vehicle 2 in the rear. Driver 2 confirmed that this was correct. Driver 1 was cited for Following Too Closely. Note: A bus always prevents seeing the light change!! 

Don’t Run That Light

 

Cobb County accident report stated that on March 16, 2019  Vehicle 1 was traveling WB on Concord Road at the intersection of Atlanta Road. Vehicle 2 was traveling on Atlanta Road turning left onto EB Atlanta Road.  Vehicle 1 ran the red light and struck Vehicle 2 on the front left bumper.  Driver 1 complained of head, neck and shoulder pain, and had a nose bleed and was transported to Wellstar for further treatment.  Driver 2 complained of head and neck pain also, but refused to be transported to the hospital.  Eyewitness 1, confirmed this.  Driver 1 was cited for failure to obey the authorized traffic control device.  Note:  Run a Light, Run risk of a ticket. 

 

 

Hit and Run

Dekalb County accident report stated that on March 13, 2019 an officer was called to the scene of an accident  on I-85 SB.   Driver 2 advised that he was traveling SB on I-85 in the second lane when observed another vehicle speeding up behind him, when the other vehicle struck the right side of his Vehicle, and continued driving. Driver 2 then stated that he then lost control of his vehicle and began to spin out of control. As he was spinning, he began to brake to keep from spinning into the center of the roadway, and then impacted the guard rail. After his vehicle came to a stop, he realized that the other car had sped away and he could not obtain any identifying information on Driver 1. Driver 2 stated that he was having severe left shoulder pain and believed that his shoulder was dislocated from the collision, and he was taken to  Medical Center for further medical treatment. The officer could not identify any evidence that concurred with the info given by Driver 2. No citations were given. Note:  In case of a rear ending, try to obtain vehicle description, if the license plate cannot be obtained. 

Following to Closely

Fulton County accident report stated that on March 12, 2019 Officer Cobbs, who was wearing a body camera, and driving vehicle #3356, responded to a traffic accident at Hill Street and Decatur Streets.  Upon arriving Cobbs spoke with Driver #1, Mr. Kinsey and Driver #2 Ms. Potter. Driver #1 stated that while traveling EB on Decatur Street, the light was green, but some reason Vehicle #2 just slammed on the brakes, and while trying to stop that quickly, struck Vehicle #1 in the back. Driver #1 was at fault and was cited with GA Code Section 40-6-49 Following Too Closely. Note: Whenever you strike the car from the rear, you are always at fault!

Observe Your Surroundings

Clayton County accident report stated that on March 6, 2019  Vehicle 2 was parked at the loading dock of 1775 Maynard H Jackson Service Road.  Vehicle 1 was also in the loading dock area next to Vehicle 2. Driver 2 essentially stated that he had just sat down in his vehicle and had not yet closed the driver’s door, when Vehicle 1 pulled forward and hit vehicle 2’s door causing damage. Driver 1 stated that he observed Driver 2 get into Vehicle 2 and thought that the door to Vehicle 2 had closed, and therefore pulled forward and hit the door of Vehicle 2. Note: Pay close attention to parked cars, starting up, in proximity to your vehicle. 

Yield or Crash

College Park  accident report stated that on March 5, 2019  Driver 2 was traveling E on I-285 in the number 5 lane when Vehicle 1 moved into his lane without yielding causing him to break suddenly.  Driver 2 stated that he could not stop in time and struck Vehicle 1 in the rear.  Driver 1 confirmed his statement adding that he was attempting to get off on the exit to Riverdale Rd starting from the number 4 lane.  Both vehicles had extensive damage.  Driver 1 was taken to Southern Regional Hospital with complaints  pain of neck, back and hand.  Driver 1 was cited for improper lane changes.  Note:  When changing lanes, you must yield.
