Failure to Yield

Clayton accident report states that on February 1, 2019 an officer was dispatched to the intersection of SR 138 and Kendrick Rd. Driver 1 was driving West at the light at SR138 and Kendrick, waiting to turn left onto Kendrick RdShe started to turn left when she observed an oncoming vehicle turning right, and Driver 1 was hit on the driver’s side by Vehicle 2. Driver 1 stated that the traffic light was yellow while she was in the intersection.  Driver 2 stated that Vehicle 1 turned right in front of her.  Driver 2 could not stop fast enough to avoid the accident and hit Driver 1. Driver 2 was cited for broken turn signal  and for driving too fast for the conditions. Driver 1 was cited for failure to yield. Note: Yield to oncoming traffic, alw

Red Light Means Stop

 

Cobb County accident report stated that on January 14, 2019 Vehicle 1 was traveling WB on Concord Road at the intersection of Atlanta Road. Vehicle 2 was traveling on Atlanta Road turning left onto EB Atlanta Road.  Vehicle 1 ran the red light and struck Vehicle 2 on the front left bumper.  Driver 1 complained of head, neck and shoulder pain, and had a nose bleed and was transported to Wellstar for further treatment.  Driver 2 complained of head and neck pain also, but refused to be transported to the hospital.  Eyewitness 1, confirmed this.  Driver 1 was cited for failure to obey the authorized traffic control device.  Note:  Run a Light, Run risk of a ticket. 

Not Wise to Follow Too Closely

Clayton County accident report stated that on January 13, 2019 Driver1 advised that she was on I-75SB and had exited onto the Mt. Zion Blvd East ramp. She came to the top of the ramp at the intersection of Mt. Zion Blvd was behind Vehicle 2 and began to turn right, but Vehicle 2 stopped. Driver 1 advised that due to thinking Vehicle 2 had continued, she attempted to proceed forward and collided with the rear of Vehicle 2. Driver 2 advised that she was on I-75/SB and had exited onto Mt. Zion Blvd East ramp. She came to a stop at the top of the ramp, and rear-ended by Vehicle 1. Driver 1 had complaints of chest pain. Driver 2 complained of neck and shoulder pain. Both drivers declined transport to the hospital. Driver 1 was cited for following too closely. 

Mutiple Car Pileup

Fulton County accident report stated that on January 12, 2019 an officer observed a 3 car accident. Driver 1 stated that she was traveling SB on Metropolitan in the left hand lane, noticed the traffic in front of her had stopped. She looked in her rear view mirror, made sure the right lane was clear, put on her blinker, proceeded into the right lane, when she felt Vehicle 2 ram her rear, driving her into a pole. Driver 2 stated that he saw Vehicle 1 stop then pull out, but could not stop and hit her rear end. Driver 3 stated that while traveling SB on Metro in the left hand lane a white truck stopped in front of him, and he saw the other 2 vehicles collide with each other, then strike the rear of his truck. The officer observed it was evident that Vehicle 1 had already taken the lane when Vehicle 2 struck Vehicle 3 and then struck Vehicle 1 driving her into the pole. Driver 1 had injuries and was transported to Grady Hospital by the EMT. All other drivers refused medical attention. Vehicle 2 was cited. Note: When the traffic ahead slows down, follow suit & slow down! 

Lane Change Mishap

Dekalb County accident report stated that on  January 92019 Vehicle 1 merged into the left hand lane while traveling on 120 at the intersection of Zion Road.  Driver 1 stated that while traveling on 120, he observed construction cones sectioning off his lane.  He said he attempted to merge into the other lane, and Vehicle 2 passed him too quickly, and the two vehicles collided.  Vehicle 1 sustained several scratches on the left rear and corner side of the vehicle.  Vehicle 2 also sustained scrapes on the right side of the vehicle.  Neither driver reported any injury.  Driver 1 was cited for improper lane change.  Watch out for vehicles in that other lane! 

Never Follow To Closely

Clayton County accident report stated that on January 3, 2019 Driver 1 advised that she was on I-75SB and had exited onto the Mt. Zion Blvd East ramp. She came to the top of the ramp at the intersection of Mt. Zion Blvd was behind Vehicle 2 and began to turn right, but Vehicle 2 stopped. Three Car Pile Up

Fulton County accident report  stated that on January 2, 2019 an officer observed a 3 car accident. Spinning Out Of Control

Chamblee  accident report stated that on January 2, 2019 an officer was called to the scene of an accident  on I-85 SB.   Driver 2 advised that he was traveling SB on I-85 in the second lane when observed another vehicle speeding up behind him, when the other vehicle struck the right side of his Vehicle, and continued driving. Driver 2 then stated that he then lost control of his vehicle and began to spin out of control. As he was spinning, he began to brake to keep from spinning into the center of the roadway, and then impacted the guard rail. After his vehicle came to a stop, he realized that the other car had sped away and he could not obtain any identifying information on Driver 1. Driver 2 stated that he was having severe left shoulder pain and believed that his shoulder was dislocated from the collision, and he was taken to  Medical Center for further medical treatment. The officer could not identify any evidence that concurred with the info given by Driver 2. No citations were given. Note:  In case of a rear ending, try to obtain vehicle description, if the license plate cannot be obtained. 

Yield, Means Yield

DeKalb County accident report stated that on January 1, 2019 based on the statements of the drivers and the physical evidence at the scene, the following was determined. Vehicle 1 struck the passenger side of Vehicle 2, while attempting to enter Rays Road, attempting to turn left (North). Driver 1 stated that she could not judge the speed of Vehicle 2 traveling South on Rays Road, and that she pulled into the road and hit Vehicle 2. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene. Slight damage was done to both vehicles. Driver 1 was cited for Failure to Yield Entering Roadway. Note: Whenever you enter the major road, you must yield. 

Don’t Assume Movement Because Tail Lights Go Off

Fulton County accident report stated that on December 16, 2018 Driver 1 was on Sherwood Rd waiting to turn right onto Piedmont Avenue.  He stated that he thought the vehicle in front of him had proceeded forward after yielding to the traffic when he looked left and began to move forward, but Vehicle 2 had not pulled forward and he struck Vehicle 2 in the rear.  Driver 2 confirmed that she was struck from the rear while yielding to the traffic.  Driver 2 complained of head and neck pain, but refused medical treatment. No other complaints.  Driver 1 was cited for following too closely.  Note: If you strike the rear, you are always too close and at fault. 

Following Too Closely

DeKalb County accident report stated that on December 15, 2018 Drivers 1&2 were both traveling south on MorelandVehicle 2 was about to turn onto the I-285 entry ramp and stopped for the traffic. Vehicle 1 was directly behind Vehicle 2 and failed to yield to the oncoming traffic. Vehicle 1 struck Vehicle 2 on the rear bumper and side panel. There were no injuries reported and both vehicles were drivable. Driver 1 was cited for Failure to Yield and for Following Too Closely. Note:  If you drive up on another car’s bumper, you will run into it. 

Pulling Out

Clayton County accident report stated that on December 14, 2018 Driver 1 was pulling out of the parking lot of 5900 block of SR 42 and while making a left, struck vehicle 2. She advised that she was traveling north on SR 42 and once approaching Rex Road, when Vehicle 1 pulled out onto the roadway, struck his vehicle. He advised that he was not injured. Vehicle 1 had minor damage to the front right corner. Vehicle 2 had minor damage to the driver door and panel. Driver 1 was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way When Entering Roadway. Note: Failure to yield is failure to drive offensively.

Always Yield Before Turning

Clayton County accident report stated that on December 13, 2018 Vehicle 2 was traveling WB on Mt. Zion Blvd near the intersection of Rex Rd.  Vehicle 1 came out of the BP Gas Station on Rex Rd exiting onto Rex Road.  Driver 2 stated that she was on Rex Road traveling WB and advised that Vehicle 1 suddenly began to pull out of the station.  She stated she blew her horn, but continued to pull into the roadway.  She advised that Vehicle 1 hit the right side of Vehicle 2 as it was pulling out onto the roadway.  Driver 1 stated that he was in the parking lot of the BP Station and was making a left onto Rex Road and did not see Vehicle 2 approaching.  He stated that as he was pulling onto the roadway when Vehicle 1 struck Vehicle 2.  Passenger 2 complained of pain but refused EMS treatment, while Passenger 1 was transported by EMS with complaints of pain.  There was slight damage to both vehicles.  Driver 1 was cited for failure to yield entering the roadway.  Note: You must yield to traffic already in the roadway.
