Fulton County/Sandy Springs accident report stated that on July 19, 2015 an officer was dispatched to Mount Vernon Hwy & Abernathy Rd to investigate a traffic accident when Driver 1 advised that he had stopped his car for the traffic light. He then backed his car to move over into the next lane. In the process of backing up, he backed into the front end of Vehicle 2 with the rear end of his car. Vehicle 1 sustained slight damage to the rear bumper of his vehicle and Vehicle 2 had moderate damage to the front end of his car. No injuries were reported. Driver 1 was cited for improper backing. Note: There should be more regard shown when backing up, so use more caution.
