The Building or the Street
Clayton County accident report stated that on March 20, 2015 Driver 1 left her office building off of Tara Blvd and Old Dixie, very tired having worked well into the night. She backed pulled out of her parking space and her vehicle would not stop and therefore struck the corner of the building and rolled into the trees. There was extensive damage to her car, but no serious injuries. There was an eyewitness who saw the accident and verified the entire story. But since the accident took place on private property, there was no citation given. Note: When you are tired, stop and relax before driving. And when there’s a building in your way, please give it the right of way!
Running the Light
Cobb County accident report stated that on March 3, 2015 Vehicle 1 was traveling WB on Spring Road at the intersection of Carolyn Drive. Vehicle 2 was traveling on Carolyn Drive turning left onto EB Spring Road. Vehicle 1 ran the red light and struck Vehicle 2 on the front left bumper. Driver 1 complained of head, neck and shoulder pain, and had a nose bleed, and was transported to Wellstar for further treatment. Driver 2 complained of head and neck pain also, but refused to be transported to the hospital. Eyewitness 1, confirmed this. Driver 1 was cited for failure to obey the authorized traffic control device. Note: Run a Light, Run risk of a ticket.
You Must Yield
Cobb County accident report stated that on March 7, 2015 Driver 2 says she was driving WB on the E/W Connector in the number two straight lane approaching Austell Road from the E/W Connector and that Vehicle 1 stopped in the intersection. She said she tried to stop but was unable to and collided with Vehicle 1. Driver 1 stated that he began to turn from the E/W Connector onto Austell after a truck had passed through the intersection. Driver 1 proceeded through the intersection but realized he could not make it through without colliding with Vehicle 2. Driver 2 thought Driver 1 would have to stop, but realized he was wrong. The eyewitness, who was traveling WB on EW Connector directly behind Vehicle 2, stated that Driver 1 started to turn left in front of Vehicle 2, then suddenly stopped in the intersection and that Driver 2 tried to avoid colliding with Vehicle 1, but couldn’t stop in time. No injuries were reported. Driver 1 was cited for failure to yield turning left. Note: The left turning vehicle always yields to the traffic with the right of way.
Just Drifting
Cobb County accident report stated that on March 7, 2015 Driver 1 advised that he was traveling SB on S. Cobb Drive near the E/W Connector in the number 2 straight lane. He also stated that he saw Vehicle 2 approaching his vehicle in the number 1 straight lane. Driver 1 said she and the other driver reached intersection together, both his vehicle and Vehicle 2. But Driver 2 stated that she had pulled out of the Jr. Crickets parking lot and proceeded SB on S. Cobb Drive and that as she was passing Vehicle 1 she felt the bump and observed Vehicle 1 in her travel lane. There was slight damage to Vehicle 1 and to Vehicle 2 as well. This indicated that this vehicle could have been drifting to the left. Therefore Driver 1 was cited for failure to maintain his lane. Note: Expertise Pays Off.
Look Before Leaping Into the Center Lane
Cobb County accident report stated that on March 6, 2015 Vehicle 1 was traveling in the center turn lane on NB Cobb Pkwy near Akers Mill. Vehicle 2 was turning left onto NB Cobb Pkwy from a private driveway. Vehicle 1 used the center lane traveling SB for approximately one mile, causing Vehicle 2 to slam into Vehicle 1 and due extensive damage to the right front bumper. Both drivers felt they were in the right, but an eyewitness confirmed that Vehicle 2 had been in that lane long before Vehicle 1. Slight injuries were reported from Driver 2. Driver 1 was cited for improper use of the center turn lane. Note: Priority attention in the center turn lane.
Your Brakes Are Your Responsibility
Cobb County accident report stated that on March 6, 2015 both vehicles were pulled over into the Wendy’s on S. Cobb Drive, SE. Driver 1 stated that he was in the right turn lane, about to make the right turn onto SB S. Cobb Drive from Windy Hill. He stated that he hit the brake to stop behind Vehicle 2, but his vehicle did not stop, the brakes failed. Driver 2 advised that she was sitting at the red light in the turn lane, waiting to turn SB onto S. Cobb Drive. The light was green to turn, and as she lifted her foot from the brake and that is when Vehicle 1 struck her vehicle. Neither party was injured and Driver 1 was cited for following too closely. Note: When one’s brakes fail to work properly, that driver is responsible for his vehicular maintenance and proper operation of his/her vehicle.
Distracted
Cobb County accident report stated that on March 5, 2015 Vehicle 1 & Vehicle 2 were both traveling along the long stretch of a curved lane from EB on Cooper Lake Road to turn NB onto S Cobb Drive when Vehicle 1 collided into the rear bumper of Vehicle 2. Driver 1 reported that Vehicle 2 was Not going to turn originally and chose to swerve into the Left turning lane, too close to his car, but did admit that he was talking on his cell phone just before the collision, which confirms what Driver 2 stated, that Driver 1 was distracted and eased into his car. No injuries were reported and Driver 1 was cited for failure to maintain lane, driving too closely and no proof of insurance. Note: Wrong is wrong. Talking on the phone while driving distracts you.
Yield, Pls
Clayton County accident report stated that on March 5, 2015 Driver 2 said she was getting into the turning lane of SR 3 on McDonough Road, when Vehicle 1 struck her vehicle. Driver 1 stated that she was coming out of the Grocery Store, and the cars in the traffic let her know that she could cut through. She said that she did cut through, but in the process struck Vehicle 2. Damage to both vehicles with dents, scratches & broken lights on the front driver’s side. No injuries were reported and Driver 1 was cited for failure to yield when entering/crossing the roadway. Note: Caution when entering roadway.
Animals Had Right of Way
Clayton County accident report stated that on March 4, 2015 Vehicle 2 came to a stop in the middle of the roadway on Mt Zion Road but was unable to stop in time, and her vehicle struck Vehicle 2 in the rear. Driver 1 said that Driver 2 just abruptly stopped without warning. Driver 2 advised that she merged into the Mt Zion traffic but had to immediately apply the brakes due to several dogs running across the roadway, at which point her vehicle was rear-ended. She stated that she had no choice but to stop or she would have struck one of the dogs. Driver 1 confirmed that dogs were in the roadway, but claimed that they were way off on the side of the roadway when Driver 2 decided to stop Vehicle 2. Driver 1 was cited for following too closely. Note: Dogs have lives, too.
Lane Change
Clayton County accident report stated that on March 4, 2015 Vehicle 1 merged into the left hand lane while traveling SB on SR3 at the intersection Mt Zion Road. Driver 1 stated that while traveling on SR 3, he observed construction cones sectioning off his lane. He said he attempted to merge into the other lane, and Vehicle 2 passed him too quickly, and the two vehicles collided. Vehicle 1 only sustained scratches on the left rear and corner side of the vehicle. Vehicle 2 also sustained scrapes on the right side of the vehicle. Neither driver reported any injury. Driver 1 was cited for improper lane change. Watch out for vehicles in that other lane!
Yield 1st
Clayton County accident report stated that on March 3, 2015 Vehicle 2 was traveling WB on Mt. Zion Blvd near the intersection of Rex Rd. Vehicle 1 came out of the BP Gas Station on Rex Rd exiting onto Rex Road. Driver 2 stated that she was on Rex Road traveling W and advised that Vehicle 1 suddenly began to pull out of the station. She stated she blew her horn, but continued to pull into the roadway. She advised that Vehicle 1 hit the right side of Vehicle 2 as it was pulling out onto the roadway. Driver 1 stated that he was in the parking lot of the BP Station and was making a left onto Rex Road and did not see Vehicle 2 approaching. He stated that as he was pulling onto the roadway when Vehicle 1 struck Vehicle 2. Passenger 2 complained of pain but refused EMS treatment, while Passenger 1 was transported by EMS with complaints of pain. There was slight damage to both vehicles. Driver 1 was cited for failure to yield entering the roadway. Note: You must yield to traffic already in the roadway.
3 Cars Pile Up
Clayton County accident report stated that on March 2, 2015 Driver 1 advised that all vehicles were driving EB on I-285 at Rex Road, stated he didn’t notice that Vehicle 2 and Vehicle 3, which were in front of her, were slowing down and accidentally ran into the rear of Vehicle 2. Driver 2 advised that when she was struck by Vehicle 1, her vehicle was pushed into the rear of Vehicle 3. Driver 3 advised that she had slowed down for the traffic when Vehicle 2 ran into the rear of her car. Med 7 arrived & checked out all the parties. Passenger 1 complained of chest and arm pains, but refused to go to the hospital. Vehicle 1 had extensive damage to the front bumper, hood and door, and had to be towed. Vehicle 1 had moderate damage to the front and rear bumper. Vehicle 3 had slight damage to the rear bumper. Driver 1 was cited for following too closely. Note: As the traffic slows, just pay attention!
A Second Slipped Foot
Cobb County accident report stated that March 2, 2015 Vehicle 1 was driving behind Vehicle 2 in a drive-thru at Popeye’s, when he answered his phone and his foot slipped off the brake pedal and rear-ended Vehicle 2. Driver 1 had just placed her order and dropped some change, so she opened her door. When Vehicle 1 struck Vehicle 2 it caused the door to drag alongside the wall of the Popeye’s. There was slight damage to the car door, as well as the rear bumper on Vehicle 2, and just a little damage to Vehicle1. Neither of the drivers reported any injuries. Note: Pay attention to the car ahead while waiting in line.
My Foot Slipped
Cobb County accident report stated that on March 1, 2015 Vehicle 1 was traveling NB in the inside lane at the intersection of Spring Road and Carolyn Drive. Driver 1 said she stopped, waiting for the light to change. Vehicle 2 was also traveling NB in the inside turn lane at the same intersection. Driver 1 was following too closely to Vehicle 2 and her stated that her foot slipped off the brake pedal. As a result, her car struck the bumper of Vehicle 2. Neither complained of any injuries. Driver 1 was cited for following too closely and for a retired registration. Note: Don’t slip and slide. Pay Attention!
Following Too Closely
Cobb County accident report stated that on January 14, 2015 Driver 2 was stopped at the red light at S. Cobb Drive and E/W Connector, facing SB. Driver 1 was behind Driver 2. When the light turned green, Driver 1 drove forward, striking Driver 2 in the rear end. Driver 2 complained of neck pain, but refused medical treatment. She was advised to go to the hospital since she was experiencing pain. Passenger 2, an infant was not injured, having been in the child safety seat, in the rear seat. Driver 1 was cited for following too closely. Note: It’s always your fault when proper distance is not taken & you hit from rear.
